  • RF: rim filler: #6 RR - cut 2 @ 35"

  • L: lasher: 1/4" FF - 4 pieces at 70" each

Let's get to weavin':

  • sand the handle so all the inside edges are rounded over and smooth to the touch...

  • set up the basket so that it is a 13” (perpendicular to the handle) x 12.75" (parallel with the handle)... the center upright will be OVER the handle...

  • weave a locking row, mitering at the corners... upset the uprights sharply... the locking row should be OUTSIDE the handle…

  • weave in 4 rows... the weaving will be TIGHT, so move the weaver to the inside, pack down, then bring to the outside and pack down... keep all uprights straight up!

  • weave in the rim row, then cut and tuck the uprights…

  • soak the rims in hot water for at least 30 minutes... measure the outside circumference with a tape measure and add 5" for the outside rim and 3" for the inside... taper for a 5" overlap on both rims...

  • clip and cable tie the rims and rim filler together... this takes a bit of muscle...

  • double lash together... straighten out the sides as it dries... you want sides to be straight up and parallel to each other...

  • TIP: to dry the rim so that it is straight, clip a ruler to each side as it dries…

  • stain or paint... enjoy!
