The hexagonal weave basket is also known as the cheese weave basket. The cheese curd wrapped in a cloth would be placed in this basket over a sink to drain. The basket is light weight, but strongly made of pounded brown ash. The rims are carefully carved and double lashed.  This 10" diameter basket is available in ash, a traditional material used by the Shakers, or in reed.  Both are perfect for the holiday table to hold dinner rolls, cookies, or a small pie.
